The National Center for Transgender Equality is the leading civil rights organization led for trans people, by trans people, winning real policy changes that improve our lives. In the nation’s capital and throughout the country, NCTE works to replace disrespect, discrimination, and violence with empathy, opportunity, and justice. 

Right now in America, transgender people are more visible and prouder than ever before. At the same time, we're experiencing attacks on our community at a magnitude we’ve never seen. Anti-trans lawmakers have rushed to restrict our rights at every turn, and we've seen a corresponding increase in violence against and suicide in our community. Trans people of color - particularly Black trans women and femmes - continue to face an alarming and unacceptable amount of violence. Trans people deserve safety, care, and joy. No matter what, we won't stop working towards a world where all trans people can survive and thrive as their authentic selves.
