Grace Detrevarah

An older Black transgender woman smiles at the camera wearing red lipstick. She has short, slightly curled hair that is parted to one side and frames her face. She is wearing a black shirt and there is a painting on the wall behind her.

Age 63 • New York, New York

According to Blaque Out Magazine: “As a Black woman of Trans experience and a long-time HIV advocate, she turned her personal struggles into a lifetime of revolutionary advocacy. She was a REVOLUTION! Through her work with the Osborne Association, Grace became a lifeline for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated Trans, GNC, and NB people. She did not just navigate systemic barriers; she actively tore them down, demanding humane healthcare, safer housing, and comprehensive reentry support for those who are all too often forgotten.”
